My Professional Background - Once upon a time, I wanted to be a motivational speaker. Actually, I was a professional motivational speaker for about 5 years.:
Those of you who follow me on Facebook might remember a photo album I created entitled “Really, America?” It is an album that received a ton of criticism – 100% of it from my mother who said I sounded like a snob who just moved back from England and is now too good to live in America. And while there is some truth to that (we did recently move back from England), I do not think I’m too good to live here. I know I am. Kidding!

See, this is why she fusses at me.

It’s just that there are so many things I encounter on a daily basis that cause me to scratch my head and wonder what possesses people to do the things they do (myself included). Believe me, I deserve my own “Really, Katy?” album on this site. And maybe one day I’ll start one.

But for now I’m going to share a few recent favorites. Just to annoy the ever loving mess out of my sweet mama.

1) Really, Leavenworth? Saw this gem yesterday in a parking lot. The awesome part is that they went all out with it. This is no homemade poster board sign. No, sir. Someone actually paid someone else to make this sign. But, sadly, no one intervened and did a grammar check. The English lover in me just died a little.

2) Sometimes I just don’t want to live in a society that thinks this is a good idea for ages 6+. If you recently purchased this for your six-year-old, please raise your hand. Because I’d like to come over and ______________ (insert something I probably shouldn’t/wouldn’t ever do).

3) This was taken by my husband in Hawaii a few weeks ago. First of all, eww. Second of all, it’s probably a great idea to join them for hula and yoga after “8 mins of eating bliss!” This is so disturbing.

4) “Honey, have you seen the dog?” Why hoarders shouldn’t own pets.

5) People, forget the other total smut that is crowding up the magazine racks. What we really need to worry about is children getting their hands on some low-fat recipes!

6) Found this handmade beauty on the World’s Longest Yard Sale back in August. Nearly killed myself to jump out of a moving car to get the photo. So worth it.

7) Another beauty from the World’s Longest Yard Sale. I’m no realtor, but this seems a bit pricey.

Okay, we’ll go ahead and start that “Really, Katy?” series after all. Here’s the first installment.

8) This is the first photo because nothing sums me up much better than this. Pregnant. Sitting on dirty clothes in a laundry basket eating Pringles. Meanwhile, the dog we gave away because I couldn’t handle the stress is begging for my attention while my firstborn child face plants right in front of me. Also, what you don’t see in this photo are the suitcases still sitting in the kitchen after our return from a family vacation – two weeks before this photo.

Really, Katy?

I am quite jealous to find out that you are currently stationed at Leavenworth. I am a Kansas City girl and met my husband while he was stationed at Leavenworth. Sadly, we probably won’t be back there any time soon. 🙁
