My Professional Background - Once upon a time, I wanted to be a motivational speaker. Actually, I was a professional motivational speaker for about 5 years.:
This week was an exciting one by my standards. I’m pretty sure I put on actual pants at least 3 or 4 times. I wore makeup on more than one occasion. And I even ventured outside the few times the temperatures reached above the 50 degree mark.

And I got to feed a llama. Or maybe it was an alpaca. I’m still not sure.

Regardless, it was pretty exciting.

And then came the moment I realized that Forever 21 has decided to call itself Forever a Creepy Cat Lady. I think they’re still in the process of a legal name change.

Then there was the store that unknowingly had a live model in the window.

thisweek_05

I had just explained the concept of mannequins to JJ, so he was pretty confused by the whole experience.

And then there was the infamous stand-off in on aisle 6. JJ literally stood at the end of the aisle and REFUSED to budge. He screamed and he yelled, and we officially became that family in the grocery store.

And, since I am a responsible parent, I decided to leave him there screaming bloody murder. But not before I snapped a photo.

thisweek_08

I eventually won the stand-off when JJ decided he didn’t like my willingness to pretend he was someone else’s kid.

Point one for parenthood.

And then there was the moment I realized I’ve been doing this marketing thing all wrong. Because the best way to make your business known in the community is to turn your vehicle into an object that is both appetizing and representative of your business.

thisweek_01

So, I put in a call to a local body shop to turn my minivan into a giant diaper. Or maybe a big, white tube of diaper rash cream.

I don’t know yet. I’m still working out the logistics.

Then we had a Toddlers & Tiaras moment with Averi when she won the title of “World’s Most Gorgeous Grand Supreme Princess in the History of the Universe” at the Little Miss Railway pageant. She won $20, a lifetime supply of Go Go Juice and this gorgeous Thomas the Train track sash.

thisweek_03

We’re pretty proud of all her hard work in her heartfelt rendition of Crazy Train.

If you’re confused you should probably watch Toddler & Tiaras sometime. It’s an interesting little piece of Americana. Well, it certainly represents the part of America that enjoys stuffing their kids into $3,000 dresses, applying obscene amounts of makeup and then pumping them full of caffeine.

So, basically all of us.

Then there’s this photo I took in our favorite Mexican restaurant. I would have missed this photo opportunity if JJ hadn’t screamed at the top of his lungs (with his mouth full of chips), “Wook, Mama! It’s Jessssthus!”

thisweek_12

I was pretty pleased that he could accurately identify Jesus but NOT the 50 bottles of liquor surrounding him.

Point two for parenthood.

Lastly, I just have to share a little home movie I took while at our friend’s house this week. We don’t have a trampoline (yet), but I think we may just have to break down and get one.

For Brian.

We used to go eat in Westport all the time! Is the Record Bar still there? We saw a pretty good (family friendly) improv gig by Jason Sudeikis from SNL there. And I got a tattoo there! At Freaks on Broadway. You literally had to walk through the devil’s mouth to get to the tattoo parlor. I hope that’s the same Westport that was in your picture. Otherwise all of this will be irrelevant. And weird.

@Bekah It’s the Westport in Kansas City, MO. It was actually our first time there, and this truck was across from the restaurant where we ate. Have you eaten at this Flea Market? I tend to not eat at places with “flea” in the name. 🙂

I am totally obsessed with your llama-feeding outfit! You should wear actual pants more often. So cute.

hi Katy, its a statue of St.Jude not Jesus, but St.Jude was a relative of Jesus and he really resembles him 🙂
